New Hire Onboarding Process
Nathan’s Painting Company uses a multi-step hiring process designed to ensure candidates are a good fit for the position and work environment.
- Candidates will first complete a phone screening with Nathan Vowels, owner of Nathan’s Painting Company.
- After the phone screening, candidates may be asked to complete a supplemental application and background check questionnaire.
- Qualified candidates may be invited to participate in a pre-hire onsite employment evaluation. This evaluation is intended to assess jobsite skills, safety awareness, and overall fit with the team. The evaluation is unpaid and is also used to help determine appropriate compensation based on demonstrated experience and ability.
- Following the evaluation process, Nathan’s Painting Company will determine whether employment will be offered and, if applicable, establish the appropriate wage level based on observed skill level and experience.
- Candidates who are hired will be required to review and complete additional employment documentation, including employee policies and workplace rules.
- Employees are responsible for completing and submitting required timecard documentation as instructed.
- Employees must report to work with all required equipment and safety gear outlined below.
Appendix A – Basic New Hire Requirements
All employees are expected to meet the following workplace requirements:
- Follow instructions carefully and professionally.
- Treat coworkers with respect.
- Be comfortable working at heights, including on ladders and rooftops.
- Respect customers, their homes, and their privacy.
- Use professional and appropriate language while representing the company.
- Participate in random drug testing if requested.
- Maintain the ability to send and receive text messages.
- Safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Maintain reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Arrive clean and presentable for work.
- Wear appropriate work boots or hiking boots. Tennis shoes are not permitted on jobsites for safety reasons.
Required Personal Equipment
Employees may be required to provide the following items:
- 3-inch Purdy paint brush.
- Razor blade.
- Multi-head screwdriver.
- Pocketknife or similar utility knife.
- Safety glasses.
Additional jobsite equipment will be provided by the company.
Zero Tolerance Policy
Nathan’s Painting Company maintains a zero tolerance policy regarding the following conduct:
- Physical fighting or violence on the jobsite.
- Illegal drug use.
- Theft of company property or customer property.
Violation of these policies may result in immediate termination of employment or removal from the hiring process.
Pre-Hire Evaluation & Liability Notice
As part of the hiring process, candidates may participate in an onsite employment evaluation that includes physical or potentially hazardous jobsite activities.
Participation in this evaluation indicates acknowledgment that:
- The evaluation is intended to assess jobsite capability and safety awareness.
- Certain tasks may involve physical risk or hazardous conditions.
- Candidates are expected to follow all jobsite safety instructions and requirements.
- Nathan’s Painting Company is not responsible for injuries, damages, or losses arising from participation in the evaluation process except where otherwise required by law.
By continuing with the application and evaluation process, candidates acknowledge that they have reviewed and understood these terms and conditions.
